Bojana Žegura, PhD

Bojana Žegura obtained her Ph.D. in Biomedicine at Medical Faculty, University of Ljubljana, Slovenia. She is a scientific co-worker at the GEN Department. In 2007 she was a fellow at Institute of Cancer Research, Medical University of Vienna, Austria. She has the expertise in applying standard and novel technologies and developing new approaches in research of the mechanisms of toxicity. BŽ has a broad experience in the experimental work with bacterial and cellular cultures and diverse in vitro bioassays. Her main research focuses on the mechanisms of toxicity and genotoxicity of natural toxins, environmental monitoring of genotoxicity and recently also monitoring of endocrine disrupting chemicals. She participated in EU project (HEPDNA). At present she is a Slovenian Councillor in the European Environmental Mutagen Society and in 2008 she was a member of the International Scientific Advisory Committee of the International Conference on Environmental Toxicology.
