Dipartimento Scienze della Vita of The Second University of Naples (SUN) which was established in 1989 after a ruling by the President of the Council of Ministers to downsize the "Federico II" University of Naples. Its first Academic Year started on November 1st 1992. Although the Second University of Naples is one of the youngest universities of Italy, it holds 10 faculties, 32 scientific departments, 1000 professors, 32 1st degree courses, 30 2nd degree courses, 51 first level specialisation courses, 32 PhD courses. The Department of Life Sciences is a multidisciplinary research centre. Its main research fields are analyses, monitoring and management of ecosystems, chemical and biological analyses of food. The department has NMR spectrometers, HPLC-MS/MS, GC-MS, high and medium chromatographic systems, fitotrones, other growing chambers and all the instrumentations needed to perform high standard quality analyses.
