Špela Baebler, PhD

Špela Baebler was born in 1973 in Ljubljana. In 1998 she graduated from the Department of Biology, Biotechnical Faculty, University of Ljubljana. As stipend of the Japanese government she has studied 6 months at Miyazaki University (Japan). After graduation she has been working at National Institute of Biology in Ljubljana as an assistant researcher where she completed Master Course (plant secondary metabolite production, 2001) and PhD (2006, gene expression studies in plant – virus interactions). After PhD she is continuing her work on plant – virus interactions, focusing more on data analysis and its visualization. Moreover, she is involved in several industrial projects with the main focus of implementing systems biology approaches in pharmaceutical industry. At the Department of Biotechnology and Systems Biology she is responsible for acquisition of molecular biology equipment. She is a co-founder of NIB spin-out company BioSistemika, where she is organizer and instructor at real-time PCR workshops.

Involvement in the project:

She is leader of WP7 and is responsible for establishment of expreimental design (in close collaboration with partners from WP5 and WP6), preparation for laboratory and data analysis protocols, visualization, integration and interpretaion of gene expression data.
